Officially retired from coaching paddlesport, Karl keeps getting dragged back into the fray. Just not kicking and screaming, usually laughing.
With a start in paddlesports in 1996, Karl has been involved in sea kayak, flatwater sprint kayak, whitewater kayak, whitewater canoe, wildwater (downriver) kayak, surf ski racing, marathon canoe racing, surf kayak…but not slalom kayak or squirt kayak (although there was a mystery move done in an expedition sea kayak). Less of an issue of attention deficit and more of fascination, these varied experiences were enriching both personally and also as a professional instructor.
These days, Karl is primarily involved with coaching a Junior Development program for Cross Country Ski racing. In a way, that is still about power and finesse on water, just frozen water.
With official retirement, the maintenance of credentials are lapsed, but have included ACA cert in Whitewater and Sea Kayak (Including IT), BCU Coach Sea Level 4, Sea Leader 5*, and USACK (United States Canoe and Kayak) Sprint Coach.
